Stroke and Meningitis

by Enquirer, Aug 31, 2006 12:00AM
My father in law had a stroke about 8 years ago. He was never able to recover from it completely and his entire right side was paralyzed. Last week, he went into a comma due to meningitis and now doctors are saying that he also had a hemorhagic stroke (minor) one.

Considering, he was already disable and now he suffered with additional things. He has been in coma from last 8 days. His vitals are unstable. His meningitis was pneumococcal (bacterial) one.

What are his chances of recovery? I heard that meningitis is a very serious disease and having a stroke with existing stroke conditions, what are the chances and if a patient survives, what are the long term effects?
