TIA and still have symptoms

I'm 44 and had a TIA 6 weeks ago.  Left side of body went numb etc., lasted about 5 minutes then OK.  Since then I have had a foggy head for several hours each day and some tingling in my left arm and leg.  From what I've read there shouldn't be any post TIA symptoms.  Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks

I recently had a TIA however it lasted for several hours. I experienced slurred speech, jumbled words, blurred vision, everything appeared much smaller and further away than what it really was, I had a difficult time swallowing, using my right arm/hand and I could hardly walk. Considering it was later in the evening I thought perhaps if I laid down everything would improve. It didn't. I attributed it to sleep deprivation. Now that I think of it, I was crazy. It lasted on and off for approximately 5 hrs. I slept very little that evening and went to work the next morning at which time I started getting chest pains that would come on suddenly then disappear, sudden headaches, loss of balance and then my speech became slurred again, words jumbles and thoughts broken up and I began stuttering when I tried to talk. I temporarily lost movement in my right arm/hand. I ended up going to the hospital and was diagnosed as having TIA. After having time to reflect, I realized how often I would lose my balance, get blurred vision, slurred speech, weakness in my right arm/hand, quick suddent chest pain that would quickly go away (I dismissed as indigestion), and  headaches a couple months prior to all this happening however it never happened as severe as it did the other night and all together at once.

Since coming home I only have approximately 4 good hrs (in the a.m.) when I have energy, can speak clearly without my thoughts getting broken up, words jumbled and my right arm/hand still isn't at full strength however I do notice there are times I go to write and I have a difficult time. As well as other misc symptoms.

What I don't understand is I haven't found anything anywhere or have been told by a Dr. there should be any lasting effects? Why not? I've noticed after reading several posts by others who have experienced TIA most have the same complaints as I do (lasting effects?). Are there lasting effects? How long should I expect it to last? They did a CT Scan, X-ray and blood work however still haven't found out what caused it to happen?

Thanks for the comment.  I am having a MRI and Echo next week.
I read your profile...I will pray today for God's grace in your life as you care for your husband.  He (God)  allows many pains in our lives to accomplish great things.

God Bless,
David

Sometimes TIA's DO leave minor reminders of what happened.  Have you went to the hospital?  TIA's can mean that the "big" one is about to hit.  Hope you did or will get checked out.  Good luck!
