Treatment, speech therapy, and prevention of another stroke

My Mom is 76 yrs old, 5'2" tall, 175 lbs, first having conjestive heart failure and then had a stroke 6 days later.  She seems to be doing fine.  She can mostly take care of herself, bathe, cook, clean, but is having to re-learn to read & write & talk.  She also does odd things like trying to write with a pair of scissors, or eating with her fork up-side down, yet she has remembered how to do simple crochet.  Her attitude and determination is fantastic!

My MAIN concern is that since this began, December 14, 2003, we cannot get her blood pressure under control and she is on 3 different meds for it, after trying this & that.  On average, her BP is 150/70.  The worst it has been is 202/52, but when we got her to the doctor's office, the systolic lowered to 147 (I forgot the bottom #) and the Dr. was not concerned.    I am very concerned that she might have another stroke, and her Dr. just "dances" around my questions.  I don't know how to get concrete answers, even an "I don't Know" is better than nothing.

My own family Dr. (whom I respect dearly) told me to spend quality time with Mom and to be prepared.  I just need a few answers of what to possibly expect so that I can start to prepare my kids & grandkids.

Her speech therapy is up next week, then we're not sure what they will suggest from there.  Her speech is fair - we can carry on conversations, but she gets "stuck" alot.

Any insite on her BP will be GREATLY appreciated, please, even if it's hard information.  Suggestions on speech, as well.

Thank You, this site is appreciated, I have HepC, as I remain,
