Unusual for tests to be negative?

by beansouper, Feb 04, 2006 12:00AM
Three weeks ago, my wife developed a terrible headache and her blood pressure shot up. Within 3 hours, the left side of her face was drooping, she had numbness on her left arm and leg and she was not only unable to speak because she could not move her mouth, but she could not even make any noise at all. She came home from the hospital last week still unable to talk but can make a few sounds now and walks with a cane as her left side is still weak. Intensive therapy has begun. I believe they did about every test known to try to identify a bleed or clot. Not one thing showed up anywhere. All bloodwork was clean also.

Is it unusual to have textbook stroke symptoms with no hard evidence of a stroke on any tests?

Did she have an MRI? All my tests didn't reveal anything, including a clot or bleed, but MRI showed a stroke a few months later.
