brain swelling

Hi

My fiance who is all of 29yrs old just suffered from polytrauma-knee, hips injury and brain swelling-with bruises and clots in the brain. its been 5days since his sedatives has been stopped but he is yet to regain consciousness. He also had fever but now that is subsiding. How long will it take for him to regain consciousnes. The doc says he responds to pain stimuli like pinching, opens his eyes for a fraction of seconds only when you shove him. he also moves his leg and arms voluntarily but apart from that there has been no improvement. How long will it take for him to regain consciousness?

It is good that he is responding to painful stimuli and able to move his arms and legs.  Unfortunately, it will be a "wait and see" what hapeens next due to the fact he has had severe trauma.

How long ago was the accident?  Sounds like he was in a car or work accident or a nasty fall.
