Sure, a lot of people do survive strokes. My husband had a stroke in the right side of his brain. He had one of the worst kinds of stroke...a hemorrhagicHemorrhagic stroke stroke where the blood vessel bursts and leaks blood inside the brain killing the cells it touches.
Doctors didn't think he'd make it. My husband is fully functioning. He talks, walks, fixes his own food, drives...just like someone that never had a stroke. He does have doubleDouble-tussin dm vision because of the stroke. It's been a year and two days since the stroke and he is alive and well. Don't give up hope. The brain can heal.
Hi PamRam228,
Every time I read your posts, I get hope. Sometimes, I just login to find your posts and read them to feel good. My mom had stroke 2 weeks ago, and we are having hard time now. Thanks again.

PamRam228's story about her husband is very inspiring. I am praying and hoping that my Dad will recover.
