recovery after massive stroke

My 59 year old (otherwise healthy) mother had a right side brain stroke two weeks ago. The DR. said it was prety massive on most of the right side, leaving her unable to move her left side.  She is able to talk, eat, drink, and able to answer any question. (still not completely normal in thinking and talking, but really close.)
She started a live-in rehab last thursday (3 days ago) and now can move her left leg some.  Stil no movement of the arm.  She does have the neglect of the left side. my question(s)
1.  How long does the brain swelling take to go completely away?
2.  Well the neglect she has get better?
3.  Well she be able to walk and move her arm, and if so how long with rehab will that take?

April 28th, my grandma started having difficulty breathing. She was rushed to somewhat of a "hospital CCU", "Doctors" seem to have able to get a look at her brain scan and we were told that her brain has shrunk. Not sure if it is because she is 84 years young or because of the stroke she had on March 19th. The only thing she can do is open her eyes and sometimes follow people with her look. She was perfectly functional(other than walking, she couldn't stand on her feet and walk farther than 10-15yards, but she could still crawl on all 4s) and she was taking vitamins and fish oil on regular basis and her thinking was sharp, but now all that is gone. She has taken Cerebrolisyn, Ceraxon and lucetam since the stroke, but none of that seem to have helped.

My Grandmother is 84 years old, she had a stroke on March 19th 2013 Today is April 23rd 2013. The only thing she is able to do is sleep and sometimes swallow pureed foods/fruits/veggies/soup. She can no longer speak. We live in a country with poor healthcare where doctors are most likely to kill someone by giving them wrong medication. My grandma had her stroke when she had a high blood pressure. What medication does one take to improve someone in my grandma's condition? She is strong mentally and has many more years to live, just need to help her get her brain back on track, please share the information on what medications you or your loved ones were given and what diagnosis was it for...Thank you Everyone.

Sorry to hear about your father's effects.  I have been constipated ever since my stroke 4.5 years ago.  So I take Miralax every 2 days and Benefiber every day.  So then my bowels often go from too loose to constipation.  I do get hiccups about every night, but its clearly from my medications. If I get to it right away, it goes away with taking a bunch of small sips of water.  I did not experience a lot of vomiting--only when my severe migraines got worse.
