stroke/sleeping

My father is 57 yrs old he recently had a intracerebrum hemorrage stroke on mother's day i want to know is it normal that he is always sleeping and how long will he have the sleeping symptoms.I would  just want to  go visit him and he's up talking to us with a casual conversation like he done before the stroke happen. but I know its a healing process i just was curious about the sleeping part. And also even if he not short of breath is it good that they should put  him on oxygen to help his brain or it does not matter.

Hi

Sorry to hear about your dad :(

Sleeping a lot is quite common following a stroke, it's when our brains heal.  Also it is a way of havin a break from too much stimulation from the surroundings.  The fatigue you get from stroke is like nothing I have ever felt before, including working for 31 hours straight.  So let him rest when he needs to & do things when he can.

Don't know about the oxygen, perhaps you could ask his doctors.
