visual field deficits

by tessie123, Oct 30, 2007 11:45AM

A member of my family has post stroke visual field deficits.
Does anyone know of any relevant therapies or treatments that can assist?
Even any 'at home' exercises?

The only company I have come across is novavision.com
Does anyone have any experience with this program?

Small visual field defects are often unoticeable because the brain "rearranges" the objects you see so as to elimate the blind spot. I have a loss of visual field from a laser burn, however I do not notice this unless the eyes are individually tested. I am willing to be convinced, but I recieved extensive medical evaluation regarding my own loss of visual field, and the consensus was that when the cells are dead, they are dead. I am not going to knock the novasion program, but I would not be too optimistic. I'd like to see more clinical data.
