what to do now

My grandfather had a severe stroke about 3 weeks ago however the first week it was not diagnosed until 5 days later.  My grandma has breast cancer and is undergoing chemo treatments he was going to drive her to the doctor and she noticed that he was having some trouble driving and maybe seeing, she want to her doctor and then convinced him to go to the ER after 6 hours he was sent home all they could say was he was confused, this was on Monday she took him to his doctor on Tuesday and Wednesday both time sent home just wait and see Thursday she could not get him up and he lost control of his bowls.  Friday morning she took him back to the ER and after 8 hours they told us he had a stroke after 4 more hours they got him in a room in critical care but told us it was to late for  any medicine we just needed to wait and hope he came out of it.  When I got to the hospital I live 2 hours away I called to find out how things were and he told me he was hunger so I got him a rostbeef sandwich and he ate all of it but that was the last time he ate anything it was 8-28.  He was in the hospital for 12 days and then was move to a rehab that my grandma was told was great with stroke patients but she got a call today just 5 days in the rehab center and they told her that they would meet Wednesday and reevaluate him and might be sending him home at the end of the week.  She can’t take care of herself he needs help walking, going to the bathroom and they have him in a bed with a cage around it that he has to be sipped into (like a playpen) and he cant swallow so still had a feeding tube.  Sorry this is long just wanting to get it all out.

Questions
How long is a normal stay in rehab?
Do they send people home who still have feeding tubs in?
What do we do next?

I'm no expert, but my mom recently had a stroke 3 weeks ago, so I do have some experience. My mom is in a nursing home right now. First you need to find out what your grandfather's medical insurance will cover. He might be eligible for nursing home care, or be eligible to have a skilled nurse come to his home. You should also look into seeing if he qualifies for Medicaid. Your hospital should have a social worker on staff to help you with his transition back home or to a nursing home facility. I hope this helps.
