Zofran Extremely Helpful for Tardive Dyskinesia

by ILADVOCATE, Nov 10, 2008 02:13AM
I'd personally like to thank the staff at Medhelp for answering my question about Zofran. Before I was taking Zofran I had severe myoclonic and respiratory spasms as well as dysphagia. It has been extreme helpful in mitigating these symptoms. I looked it up online and found some tentative information but I knew my neurologist would not be familiar with it as its experimental. I printed out the answer I received here and he was then willing to use it. As well in understanding that it treated psychosis from Parkinsons's, I had some idea that it would be helpful on what they were tentatively identifying as tardive psychosis since I've had a full recovery from schizoaffective but some highly distressing dissociative states during periods of extreme abnormal motor activity. In seeing that the Zofran at a full dose mitigated this dissociation in addition to the spasms my psychiatrist (my neurologist is recovering from a heart attack) is sending this to a research psychiatrist to better identify the condition with the potential of tardive psychosis being better understood and if identified Zofran used in larger scale trials to treat it. But the first step was to see if it worked as my neurologist had not yet become familar with it we are both thankful that someone provided us with some factual information to get started. Thanks again.
