belly botton hernia

had  herniated belly botton repaired/surgey approx. 5 years ago. The last several weeks I been having soreness and pain (sharp, espically when I bend over) around the belly botton area. when passing my hand over this area I can feel bumps (thinking adhesions) In the the last several days I been feeling more gas/bloating.Just for your information I am a personal trainer. in the last several month I have been doing more abdominals exercises along side my clients. Your Feedback is greatly appreciated.
thanks

Dear Lindag.
How the operaion was peformed? (Open or laparosocpic?) What type of mesh was used? (prolene or PTFE). What was the procedure? (peritoneal or extraperotoneal?). Please see the Discharge slip/ ticket/ prescription, you may find some of the answers there
If hernia was repaired laparoscopically with prolene mesh and peritoneal placement of mesh then chances of adhesions are more.
Some times lump can form around the tackers/ anchors (pins used to fix the mesh) which can be painful. In your case pain is localized to one point only I suspect this could be the cause.
Only point of concern in your case is: inability to pass gas, which suggests bowel adhesion and it means you should see your surgeon now.
Best wishes

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
may be unrelated to operation
adhesions occur in the belly so u could not feel them on the outside
see your surgeon - he may want to run some tests eg CT scan
good luck
