Anyone else feeling like me?

by ajwwr82, Aug 29, 2009 02:05AM
Ok, im 14 and personally im freaking out about this swine flu thing.  For one, i hate shots and the thought of all these tests and what not if i have symptoms are making me upset already.  Second, i always get the flu every year, so is it going to be different this year?  Third, i know a lot of people who get a flu shot and it doesnt work, if not makes things worse.  So do our bodies have to fight this one out by themselves?  I hear up to half the population could get it, and .5% will die..thats a lot of people.  I'm starting school soon too, and thats just swine flu waiting to happen.  WHAT DO I DO TO CALM MYSELF????

Don't waste your time freaking out. I follow the Centers for Disease Control bulletins on swine flue and what they are saying, so far, is that it is NOT AS DANGEROUS as our usual flue. That is to say that fewer people die of it. But very few die of the flu in any case. It is the media that is making you crazy, not the medical profession. Enjoy your life and forget about swine flu.

I agree with the above poster. My son was just diagnosed with the Swine flu. The doctor said children and adults who are healthy will have no problems with this. It's the ones who have weakened immune systems (like people with cerebral palsy, etc.), babies and older people are the most vulnerable.
All you can do is try to stay away from people coughing or who appear sick. Wash your hands a lot! And don't eat or drink after others. It can't hurt to take your vitamins to keep your immune system up, especially vitamin C. Take care.
