Intro/Mini IVF

Hello all,
I recently went to NYC, and I am in the process of starting a mini IVF. Anyone else do this?  I have had 2 convential IVF' s, no luck yet.

Hello,
For those of you getting treatment in NYC, do you mind letting me know about the clinic you're using?  I've looked into New Hope and the Center for Human Reproduction.
Has your experience been positive? Has anyone tried natural cycle IVF?
Thanks,
Theresa

I live in NYC, and I just want to let you guys know that several fertility clinics do "mini IVF" or "natural cycle IVF." It's generally not done at the super big clinics (they seem more interested in focusing on their success numbers with women who better fit their criteria--i.e. younger and/or normal FSH levels). New Hope is the first place I found that does the "mini IVF" but I've since learned about 3 more clinics here in the city. These other clinics don't necessarily advertise it, but they do DO it. I'm telling you in case some of the clinics in your areas do it as well. It's no harder for the clinic to do--they're just working with the one egg your body naturally produces as opposed to the many eggs your body might produce with hormones. I think if you're interested, it might be worth asking in your local areas, just in case it is an option for you.

PS where I live, being 40, 41 ETC. is not the "norm" I now live in a rural community where people my age (40) are grandmothers ( SIGH)  so, in my heart i feel that perhaps there is a bit more experience in NY working  with  patients that are older!

Thanks for your information, and good luck! I am just in the beginning process, and will have a second blood test/scan on Tuesday, May 4th. I am keeping very optomistic about this. I have read pros and cons of the clinic, however, given the amount of patients, I have found ( so far) that they have all been nice, professional, and answered all questions. As I understand it, the freezing process for the embryos is also better ( more gentle) . I will be nervouse during the waiting times, but that is life! I also went to a second opinion in Washington DC, and I was told to do a third , agressive, IVF ( convential) While I feel the doctor was good, I really did not want to do another round of drugs!

Want to wish you great luck with transfer, when is it?Is it your first child, your first mini-ivf?
Hope it works. But how many embryos did you have to freeze and how many survived thawing? This part is making me a bit nervous..I haven't even taken my beta yet after this ivf and already thinking of next step!

I have gone to NY as well, I have 3 embryos waiting to be transfered two 8 cells and one blastocyst. I am 42 almost 43.
The object of mini IVF is to get quality not quantity. They use Clomid and sometimes an injectable (I did Menopur) The injectable is only one shot every other day or less.
Because clomid is not good for the uterus when you are over 40 they will retrieve and then freeze the best embryos. After you are done with your retrieval they prepare your uterus for transfer and when all is well they thaw the embryos and do the transfer. It is thier belief that the stims you do during regular IVF does not give you the best quality eggs, that is why you can get many eggs and only 1 or 2 are very good.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello, I do not mind stating my age, it is 40, at least for the next few weeks (:
The Mini involves taking pills as opposed to shots, and a nasal spray. I am only in the first part, and am taking birth control pills. I am due for blood work/scan on May 4th.

Then, I think they will start me with the drugs. I will write more later, I just got up, gotta get ready for work (:

Been to a website the other day that recently mini IVF gives a healthy baby girl to a 49 year old woman with her own egg and it happens in US. It seems so promising. What i understand is mini IVF using very limited drugs / or no drugs to release eggs, which are more healthy and better quality than that by drugs, particlularly for mature women. Then embryo will be transferred. If i am not wrong, that 49-year-old had collected 6 good eggs within 12mths and the 3rd transfer was successful.

Nylena, I am in 2ww as well. I had AIH on Sunday and my E2 was good in this cycle (as i am NOT using drugs). But when I went to see my herbalist on 2dpo, he said dont put much hope on this cycle as my pulsation was worse than before. So waiting for the blood testing on Mother's day. But he said in general i am getting better and very good reaction to his herbs and  I should have chance to have another baby (I have been with him less than a month and my E2 was dropping down before ovulation in last cycle).
