Maca AF/long cycle result - had to report back!!

Hi all,

I had to share my recent success with Maca Root.
A friend recommended it, and I did some reading online and posted a question about it on here, too.
Had heard very good things about it stabilising the hormones, etc.

Anyway, I ordered some (liquid extract, not powder) and started taking it this past Tuesday (3 Aug); and AF just arrived full on this morning! A result in four days!! Honestly, I nearly cried, I was so thrilled to see her. LOL!
Seeing her means I'm still in the game!! :)

My cycle is all over the place. Sometimes really regular, like clock work (28 days); but mostly not. The past three cycles have been: AF arriving on CD25; CD28 and CD74. (Back in Nov 2009, I had one cycle were AF arrived on CD97!)

Today is CD41 for me, so that's certainly an improvement on the last one! LOL!

What's really weird, in a very good way, is that with the Maca, I really did/do feel better generally. (Less tried, more energy...) And, I could feel AF coming on very clearly. For the past few cycles I've felt a bit like AF was, well, stuck. Wanting to start, but not quite. With this stuff, I could feel the normal build up to AF. (Tender BBs, cramps, etc.)  

Of course, it's early days still. But, I'm just relieved that something is actually working!

A bit of background: TTC since August/Sept 2009; ME42/DH47; everything okay apart from unpredictable cycles. GP says "Just relax." (Yeah, right.)

That's great news!! I'm glad to hear your getting back on track, and in such a short time of taking Maca! That's pretty impressive results! SSBD!

I like getting some great news!  If Macaroot is really making you feel better, than I really think you should check your thyroid too.  Macaroot has iodine that helps the thyroid. I recently learned that if your thyroid (tsh) is not under 2, that is a reason conceive is not happening.  My tsh was 3.6, so my doctor gave me a low does of thyroid medicine and my acupuncture gave me iodine to help be get off of thyroid medicine.

That is SUCH wonderful news! I always recommend maca to everyone, so hearing good results like that really makes me happy! I think you'll find over time that it will help more and more! When I first added it in March, I got tons of EWCM which I hadn't seen since my 20's! And Risa is right, probably a good idea on your next dr visit to request your thyroid to be screened. Drs seem to keep missing that, and it is crucial for TTC! Good luck! Hopefully this is the beginning of your TTC journey getting a little easier! Will keep my fingers crossed! SSBD!

Wonderful news! I tried Maca root for about 3 weeks or so. I liked it too, the only reason I stopped is because my doctor put me on Clomid.
