My AF has always been heavy with lots of cramping too (except when I was on the Pill), but she's changed over the years. She's usually still heavy for day, but she's gotten shorter with age. Anyway, the tissue I passed Saturday night was not normal for me. It was grey and looked like a sac of some sort--definitely its own entity. I called my RE yesterday and he said it might be what's known as a decidual cast, which would, indeed, determine that my pregnancy was most likely ectopic. I'm taking the tissue in today to see if they can tell me what it is. Of course, the hope is still that the fertilized egg made it to the uterus, so I'm hoping that the tissue is NOT a decidual cast, but I looked up pictures of it online and it does look kinda similar. Hard to tell.

I'll let y'all know when I do.

No such thing as TMI here! Lucky thing. When it comes to weird blobby membraney things passing during your period, I have that every month, and always have since I was 14, so I know it's not a miscarriage (otherwise I'd wonder, as it is definitely NOT a clot - I have those too - but this is something stretchy and tissue-y). I read somewhere once about a condition, forget the name, where a woman's uterus really sheds a layer of thick tissue every month rather than just blood and some dissolved stuff. Maybe I'm one of those women. Have always had severe monthly cramps, too - at least until this thing passes, and then I'm much better and can get on with things.

It's possible that this happens to some women SOME months, or every now and again, instead of every month as I have experienced. On the other hand, an early miscarriage would probably be experienced in much the same way.

As for my own situation, I mentioned this to my RE (when I had one) - they didn't think it was so weird, but did ultrasound a couple of times at ovulation time and said the endometrial thickness was fine. So, I guess all this is normal for me.

I guess what I'm saying is that blobby tissue-y stuff isn't necessarily a miscarriage - but might be.

Best wishes,
~Wendy

Sherri,

I am so sorry that it happened to you again. It's hard, but knowing that your body is able to get pregnant is winning at least part of the battle. When they told me that my tubes were blocked and that I'd never get pregnant again, I felt truly defeated. Like what could I do if there's a mechanical problem that won't allow the eggs into the tube?? I still don't, and may never, know if my last pregnancy was ectopic, but I am hopeful that it made it to the uterus, even if it did end early. It makes me believe that I DO still have a chance!

I have a question for you. Have you ever had any of the tissue you pass from your m/cs tested? This may be TMI, but on Saturday night I had some tissue that was different from the rest. I could tell it was different even as it passed because of how it felt leaving my body. It was kinda greyish and looked like a sac with stuff inside it. Well, I looked online, and site after site said that it is a good idea for women who miscarry more than once to get that tissue tested, especially if in their 30s and 40s. Everyone assumes that it's simply chromosomally abnormal due to our age, and maybe it is, but what if it isn't? If it isn't, it could be an indication that something else is causing us to m/c, and that something else may be fixable! Since my first m/c in October, I learned I was positive for myoplasma OR ureaplasma (I forget which one now, but both can interfere with getting pregnant and staying pregnant, and a 10-day course of antibiotics can get rid of it) and that I had a subclinical hypothyroidism (another culprit in early miscarriage). I don't know if I've been screened for everything--it's part of what I'm trying to figure out, but I would like to know if the miscarriage was due to abnormal chromosomes or something else. To that end, I tried to preserve the tissue I passed (again, sorry if TMI) and I am currently waiting for a call from my RE. I don't know if he will agree to testing the tissue and I don't even know if it can be done days later, but I will see what he has to say when he calls.

Aside from all that, Sherri, I am 100% with you on the "Let's get our bodies into the best shape possible for carrying a baby to full term" plan! That's what I was doing after the m/c in October, but then when they said my tubes were blocked, I immediately reverted back to my old habits. I am now back to taking lots of supplements, eating healthier, organic foods (when I can), working on getting more sleep, getting ready to open for the first time my fertility yoga DVD, and I'm back at acupuncture and abdominal massage. Like you, I'm not going to focus so much on my age (I turn 44 this summer), but on the TRUTH that women in their 40s get pregnant all the time and go on to have healthy babies. ALL IT TAKES IS ONE GOOD EGG and, as my acupuncturist says, there are still plenty of them locked away inside--it's just a matter of bringing them to the surface, getting the timing right and seeing if nature takes her course.

A big hug to you, Sherri.

Okay, so today is CD3 for me.  I went to my RE's today for the scan, & it's a go ;)
I was a little disappointed because the RE (not mine, another one) said I had 6  flooies she could see in my one & only little ovary.  I was hoping for at least 7-8, that's how many it usually has been when I get the CD3 US.
Anyway, she said that was totally fine & all they want to see is at least 4 per ovary.
So she upped my Gonal-F dose to 225....YIKES!  Is that HIGH?  I think the 2 x's I was on it before I was on 150 & I produced 2-3 x's follies.  SO I start tonight ;o)

So I'm gonna start another post a little later & copy n paste something I found VERY interesting the other night, it's about fertility & age, & I think it's helpful.

Hope everyones good!!!

Well, I didn't think it would happen this quickly but it's already over. When I woke up this morning, I didn't feel pregnant any more. Had some bad cramping last night and this morning. Now I'm spotting. I guess this is another chemical pregnancy and my doctor was right. Taking progesterone can be helpful for some people, I'm sure. But for me, there needs to be much more work on improving my overall health and hormone balance. I'm very sad. But I knew since Thursday this was not likely a viable pregnancy.

Thank you everyone for the support! This is an ongoing learning experience for me. I'm understanding better what I need to do to achieve my dream of having children (getting my body into much better shape physically). Even though I'll be 42 next month, I'm going to quit worrying about that number and really going to focus on getting my body into great shape so it can carry a pregnancy to term.

I wish everyone well and lots of SSBD! Will still check in periodically over the next few weeks to see how everyone is doing, but I will be waiting at least a month or two to try again. Thank you so much for all of your support! :-)

Breezy,

With what you're going through right now and you're showing me such support and kindness? I'm so touched! Thank you so much! And please know you are in my thoughts, too, and I will be wishing for your next one to be the one! And I'm also hoping for a quick and uncomplicated resolution to your current m/c. I know the waiting part is brutile! I have been there several times. (not sure if any have been ectopic, but have had 3 chem preg's and one actual m/c) I feel your pain. And as tentative as this one is for me, I am petrified I will be there again in a matter of days. I want to be positive but boy, it's so hard to do!

Thank you again for the well wishes! Maybe there is a miracle waiting for me this time! It's finally stopped raining here in L.A. so will try to go outside for some fresh air and a little sunlight! Hang in there! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

How exciting! Definitely keep us updated! It sounds like you're doing everything you can re: progesterone. Just keep eating right and taking your supplements, get plenty of sleep, don't take any super hot baths, etc. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Ita,

Thanks for the well wishes regarding my miscarriage. We were unable to determine if it's ectopic or not, but based on the way I'm bleeding this time (just a lot of brownish spotting--nothing like when I miscarried in October), I'm guessing that it is ectopic, unfortunately. My hCG dropped down to 19 yesterday. I have to go back in again next week to make sure they're below 5. Thanks for the support!

You're right!  The RE I saw for a month was just plain STRANGE!  & the RE I'm seeing now (he was the first one I saw & paid out of pocket for 2 months) is a good DR I think, but he is not very "sweet" either!  But I feel like I can break through his stuffiness, w/my charming LOL personality!  HAHAHAHA  I think he thinks I'm a bit of a trip!  I always have tons of questions for him, & he will let me ask him w/out ,making me feel stupid ;o)
I really like his nurses, there's one that's not too great, but the others are kind ;)

AFM; well, I am SOOOOO excited cuz I'm spotting ;)  I was beginning to freak myself out, thinking "oh no, what if I don't get my period this month...YIKES!" ;)  That's never happen to me!

Linda...

I completely understand what you are saying about those nasty nurses. It amazes me, because I'm thinking you are a woman, surely you understand. They seem to be so nasty. Actually, I don't know why these RE's don't have special training for everyone that works with them, including admin personnel. Oh wait...those nuts(RE's) need it too, but don't get it. ;o)

Thank you SO much for your amazing support right now. I'm not completely freaking out, but I am a little! :-) I am loading up on progesterone as follows: Prometrium (100 mg, twice a day), vaginal suppositories (200 mg twice a day), and some natural progesterone cream applied 2-3 times a day. That should make at least 600 mg a day. :-) That's all I can do, I guess. That and keep my stress level low.

Thanks again so much! I will take a HPT over the wknd. If that comes back positive, then I will really have something to celebrate, because going from 5 up to 20 or 25 would be a huge jump. I ordered some more HPT strips. Hopefully they'll be here soon! In the mean time, I have to just hurry up and wait! Arghhhhhh! :-) Hopefully my new RE will be amazing! Guess we'll see on Monday!

My RE has me take 400 (something;) vaginally 2x's per day.  So the only BAD thing that can happen w/too much progesterone is, that it will make you REALLY sleepy;o)  So double up!!!!!!!  It won't hurt you ;o)
Take an HPT tomorrow!!!!!!!!  I bet you will get a 2nd line!  & keep us posted about your new RE too!  I switched RE's cuz his nurse was a B***H!!!!!!  OOOHHHHHHHH  I don't understand why some people have very little tack, ESPECIALLY as an RE's nurse, you need to be sweet & patient!!!! Ughhhhhhh ;)

Sherri,

I completely undstand about the negative docs, RE & believe it or not, some MH replies. Often times people get so locked into the stats. We will have stats, but not everyone is the same. I just can not have someone speaking negative thoughts to me, so I often times don't ask questions that will cause negative replies, because unless you are God, you don't have THE answer...not really. ;o)

Circumstances are subject to change so therefore, you can't say 100% on anything. Just know that anything is possible. You will get some very good information & direction from the Medhelp ladies...very Valueable info and Loving support. I hope it encourages you on this ttc journey.

I'm not sure about the beta results & timing of days, etc., but I say stay the course until you are told otherwise. I've heard of using the inserts...2x's per day @ 200mg., but am not sure of 3x's. I'm sure someone will read & discuss with you, but if not...put the question out there.

Stay strong & positive. ;o)

Thank you so much! Was doing Prometrium orally, as I had grown tired of the yucky mess! But I think orally is not ideal for me. Been having alot of diarrhea lately so I'm afraid I'm not absorbing much of it! I have some left over inserts. (200 mg ones) So going to put one in tonight. Do you think the upper limit of a sensible dose is 200 mg 3 x a day?

I'm so afraid b/c my doctor (OB/GYN) acted like it's already for sure that this is not viable. I am so tired of negative docs. Have an appt with the new RE on Monday. She's a woman luckily! Would love to walk in w/a BFP! Gonna do a HPT over the wknd and see if I can get at least a faint line or better!

Will keep everyone posted! This is a very tentative pregnancy until things improve (betas doubling and progesterone drastically increasing, too! ) So we have a way's to go! I'm so blessed to have found this group and support from such a wonderful group of ladies!

Miracles are coming for all of us! I'm having a struggle now, praying it pulls, through. But I can see now plain as day that the most important thing in this process is to have my own body in the best shape possible, so there is a suitable environment for a baby to grow and develop. I'm going to see my acupuncturist on Saturday and doing some light yoga on Monday night. Going to try to keep eating as healthy as possible and relax and minimize the stress. And of course, keep taking loads of progesterone!

Thanks everyone!!! SSBD to all!

Sherrie...

I agree with Laurie...def up the progestrone. A lot of the ladies do the inserts & shots. Did you say you were taking orally? If so, I'd request inserts. I hope this is the One for you chicky.

You're correct. No stims. Hadn't been to an RE in months actually. Didn't like my first one that much. So have been trying au naturale. Monday 1/25 was actually to be my appointment with the new RE. Would sure LOVE to go in already with a BFP!  I'll just have to learn some patience and try to take as good of care of myself as I can until then! (and keep taking the progesterone) :-)

As far as knowing when I'm pregnant, I think basically I can sense the subtle hormone changes that happen right after conceiving. The main thing for me is hunger! I eat even more than usual and crave certain things, especially V-8. Normally I don't even like V8, but when I'm pregnant, I crave it. Not sure if it's the sodium or the tomato juice or what! :-) I have been nauseous a few times in the last few days. P.S. It's because I have unfortunately had several chemical pregnancies and a m/c that I am a bit more aware maybe than most of the signs of pregnancy. I pray that I can stay pregnant and carry to term.

My dr (OB/GYN) said to come in Mon or Tues for another beta, but I already have a 9:00am appt with a new RE who is actually in the same building as my OB. :-) So will probably just do the beta there. On the weekend I might try to POAS and see if it registers a faint positive. For now, will just keep looking on the net for some success stories of women who had low progesterone levels but were able to get them up and keep the pregnancy. :-)

So, then you didn't do a trigger, right?  I bet you are pregnant;o)  I would FOR SURE add more progesterone ASAP, then in 2 days do an HPT, but I bet your DR will have you go in for another beta too, right?
Let me ask you; what made you feel you are pregnant?  I'm just curious???  W/my 2nd (son) I KNEW I was pregnant 100%  No real symptoms, just knew ;)  & w/my last that I MC'd I knew like 2 days after conception!  I had no doubt, but it was because I nipples all of the sudden got SUPER sore, & I hadn't done any meds, not even progesterone, well I was using natural cream on my own, but not much of it.

GOod luck ;o)

Thank so much for your fast reply! I actually initiated the beta, because since we had added Prometrium last month, I wanted to see if it was helping and the progesterone level was going up. (and since I was already there getting blood drawn for that, I asked the nurse if she could just go ahead and do a beta) :-) In addition, I had a really strong feeling that I was pregnant.

Also, I am such a high risk, I figure the sooner I know I'm pregnant, hopefully the better the chance of preventing a m/c. (I have lupus, fibromyalgia, thyroid autoantibodies, endometriosis, allergies, mild asthma, and a few other things. Not to mention I'm over 40!) :-) So I feel that a high risk pregnancy doc should be something I do as soon as I know I'm pregnant.

But the beta is so low (5)! (and so is the progesterone 4.5!) I'm so nervous! Thank God for you guys! I will try to stay calm and patient. If it's meant to be, it will be. And if not, it won't. But God, we would be so happy! Please everyone pray that the beta is just low b/c it's really early, and that there is time to get the progesterone up! Thanks!

Well, why would he even do a beta on you 10DPO????  I've never heard of that?  STRANGE!  IF you really are 10DPO, & you didn't do a trigger, then CONGRATS ;o)

You need to go on a higher dose of progesterone!!!!  If he won't give it to you, then go to a healthfood store or vitamin store & buy natural progesterone cream & add 1/2 tsp 3 x's per day!!!!
Keep us posted ;o)

HELP! Ladies! I had blood drawn yesterday and here are the results. Need advice on what to make of them. HCG 5.0 and progesterone 4.5. My Ob/Gyn talks like I have already miscarried! But this blood was drawn early in the month. I thought it was 10 dpo but it might actually have been only 7 dpo.

Dr has me on Prometrium 100 mg, twice a day. He's an excellent, well-respected doctor. But I have had m/c's in the past due to low progesterone, so I want to be on as much as possible! What do you guys think? I won't lie. I am tempted to up the dose a little or even add the vaginal suppositories along with the Prometrium. What do you guys think?

Please help! Thanks in advance!

Thanks Breezy ;o)  I can't wait til you get pregnant again, have a healthy & happy pregnancy & deliver a perfect baby!  Then you ned to write a book about your journey, & have seminars ;)  I'm serious too!!!!!  You can beat the Dr's" stats!!!!!

Well, I can't do fish (peeyu...stinky:)  BUT I do eat plenty of Omegas in my diet daily.  Really don't moniter how much, but I have some everyday, in the form of grains.  I just mad my kiddos cookies for after an school snack & even though it's just a store bought "mix", (not organic) what I do to make it healthier is I add organic rolled oats, flax seed (ground up) & chia seeds, add dark chocolate chips (they are good for you after all;) & I always use organic eggs & butter & they have no clue that they just ate a healthy snack FULL of Omegas :) LOL

About the clear blue, I just use the regular OPK's I O very regularly & am really lucky to always have all the O signs, I get lots of CM (more w/extra Vit. C!) & I get bad O pain, some months more than others, but I always do.  Thats how I always either got pregnant in the past, & avoided pregnancy.  It had always up until recently worked for me!!!  We've been ttc since my last MC, I'd say we've had 7 months now of ttc.

My acupuncture I do trust;)  I could use the one that works w/my RE, & I did go to her 3x's, but she is $100.00 per visit, which isn't too too bad, but more than that, she's not close to me, an hour away, & she doesn't do herbs, that I know of anyway.
They use her mostly for women who are doing IVF.

I'm not sure about yoga, I guess I can buy a DVD & try it, but I'm not much of a "long slow" workout person LOL, but I do enjoy acupuncture, it makes me feel so relaxed ;)

I'm excited to start MACA for both me & my hubby ;) I figure, there's no reason I can't get pregnant & have a healthy baby, I've always taken care of myself, & for the past 2 years even more now.  My biggest disadvantage is I only have one ovary, but at least I know she works every month ;o)

I'm suppose to start today, but I'm sure I'll be a day or two late, cuz my prog. was so high, it takes time to go back down, it must be crashing fast, cuz I've had such  a BAD headache since last night!!!!!  Luving my hormones right now ;)

Hey, what is royal jelly suppose to do?  I've always known it's good for you, but what exactly is it for?
Thanx

Savvi any luck yet finding one???
