Welcome

I couldn't understand why there wasn't a group for women over 40 who are TTC a baby so I decided to create one.  I think it would be beneficial to share our experiences with others who will understand what we are going through.  So I'm sending out an invite to all of those who are interested in finding and sharing information and support.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi everyone, I am new here and never joined any type of forum before but figured the more support the better!  (I am not even sure if I am "posting" this correctly?)
@ bevfly:  I too had a termination 13 yrs ago and now am TTC.
@ Surprise42: if you don't mind me asking, did you conceive naturally or what method did you use?

Wishing you all the best!

I am 40 years old.  My husband and I started ttc right after my period of Jan 7th.  I am 6 weeks pregnant now.  I'm so nervous, after reading and hearing everything about my age, I'm so afraid of a miscarriage.  I'm just nervous.
FYI - My mother had a baby girl when she was 43, and baby turned out perfectly healthy and mom had no complications in pregnancy due to age.

Hi hun the reason we have to wait for so long is because there is a waiting list. And before our next appointment i need to have a laparoscopy which is scheduled for just after new year. Here in scotland the system is slow and takes time,we cant afford to go private. But we will have to pay for IUI or IVF as i am over 40 yrs old.

I am 40 and will be 41 in january,i have been ttc with my partner for nearly 1 year now with no luck yet.but i have been pregnant in the past,1 resulting in an termination(which i now regret more than anything)(15 years ago) as the relationship was violent and i feared for my own life.I now feel better about it because for years tortured myself and blamed myself constantly about it.I had a misscarraige(7 years ago) which at the time didnt realise that it was but it was. Then 5 years ago working as flight attendant i had an eptopic which resulted in the partial removal of my right tube.I now try to be as positive as i can because being negative doesnt get you anywhere except adds stress and thats something we can all do without.Me and my partner who is my mr perfect have had all the tests and all showed fine.So now we wait for our follow up appoinment in february to find out whats next iui or ivf?

I am 39y but turning 40 in January.  I have one dd (I was 38y when she was born) and had 2 m/c prior to TTC her.  We tried a couple totally natural cycles last spring.  I  got prego and had an ectopic.  So now not only am I 2y older with the same old fertility problems I now only have one tube!  Last month was our first medicated cycle after the ectopic but I ovulated on the wrong side.  Here's to hoping this month is on the left!!

Hang in there!  You got pregnant, that's a good start.  Maybe the next one will be the keeper.  This is just my opinion, but if I were you, I'd make sure I gave it a good run with your own eggs.  Then if you feel like you've tried your best, I would consider donor eggs.  Seems like you can be older and try with donor eggs, the cutoff isn't quite as early as IVF with your own eggs.  That's just me though.  SSBD!

I just found this website recently and now this community.   This is awesome, I finally feel like I'm not alone going thru all of this.   I work in an all male environment, so many days are very hard without anyone to really talk to.   I am 42 and have been TTC for since February.   I have an 8 year old daughter from a previous marriage.   It wasnt a great marriage, but I have a beautiful daughter.   I've now married a wonderful man and absolutely adores me...which in itself is so satisfying, however he has no children and we would love to have one together.   I feel like I'm asking for a miracle though.   I prayed for someone like him and finally got him, and now I have one more request. :)   I got pregnant in September and did the test...on his 38th birthday and it was positive, however 1 week later my numbers were not doubling :(.    It did result in a miscarriage about a week after that.   I had already consulted a fertility clinic and they came up with a very aggressive plan with injectibles and IUI.   I was supposed to call them on day 1 of AF and order the injectibles.   I never got there as I got the BFP on my own.  So now that I had a m/c 5 weeks ago, I'm on to waiting for day 1 again to start the plan.  I'm reading so many negative results with the IUI that I'm worried.   I really want to use my own eggs, but I'm getting a little disheartened reading all of the problems in our age group.

Greetings Ladies...

Thank you  naturschld for starting this forum and Amanda for posting the info in the other forum...not sure if it was just +35...thought I read in fertility too. ;o)

Be encouraged ladies...there is hope for us & I've known a lot of 40+ ladies who have been blessed to become pregnant, carry to full term & deliver healthy babies.

SSBD to All.

What a wonderful forum, I know the people who join it will find lots of kindness and support. I have been a member of the 35+ for a while and love to read inspiring stories.

I just wanted to offer some hope to anyone who has just joined and on the road of TTC, there are a lot of 'doom and gloomers' out there who love to spout statistics at you but there is hope.... I am 40 and will turn 41 on Christmas Day, We have been trying for a baby for approx 4.5 years. I had a late M/C last year but now I am 12 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby. We conceived this baby without any fertility drugs or treatments despite my DP having a low sperm count.

Good luck and SSBD to everyone! :)

Hi Ladies.  I am thrilled to see this group starting. I am 44 years young and DH just turned 40.We have 2 boys ages 9 & 13. I have had 3 miscarriges since my last son was 4 years old.The last was about 2 years ago.We have decided to give it one last shot.I have been ttc for about 8 months on medhelp. I have tried clomid and unfortunately it gave me hostile mucus,so even if I did ovulate it killed them right awy.  :(   I have been taking my bbt and have been charting on this site for about 7- 8 months now. I am currently  8 dpo and this cycle I used Evening Primrose Oil,Vitex, and baby aspirin.  If anyone needs to look at my charts feel free do do so.I hope that it can help you.

Thanks for starting this Forum, great Idea...I have just turned 42 and wondering if there is anyone out there in my same situation? I was pregnant once in my life at age 34, terrible relationship so I did not keep the baby, (which i regret today) I was 3 days late when I terminated the pregnancy not sure what would have happened with pregnancy if things were different. I never got pregnant when I was younger, ignorant, and did not always use birth control. Looking back, I guess if I had tried to get pregnant then, I may have had fertility problems. I started trying to get pregnant at age 40 to no avail, I did one round of IVF at age 41 with 5 embies transfered with no luck..I have decided to try once again on my own and then go the donor egg route. It seems that many of the people trying to conceive after age 40 have already had children when they were younger, and seem to have a better chance of getting pregnant. Is there anyone out there who has never gotten pregnant before and has gotten pregnant now after age 40?? I am also on the over 35 forum and have been given great advice as well as hope, thanks for any comments you may have. Good luck to all!!

I think this is an excellent idea too. I'm part of the 35+ group as well and I'll keep reading posts there because I've found the people there to be wonderfully kind, supportive and helpful. There is a difference though when you are 44(my age) vs 35. That big old time clock starts hanging over our heads quite a bit more so I'm glad to be a part of this too and hear more about people with those over forty challenges. Thank you for starting this forum and best wishes to all who join!

How funny. I was just reading this morning the age groups and saying to myself that I'm not 35 trying to conceive I'm 39 turning 40 shortly i need a new group.. LOL then I read Adgals post and laughed to myself.. But I have been trying for 8mths following a miscarriage in DEC 08. a round of clomid, two rounds of Gonal-f and Ovidrel and still a negative. Two hsg that are normal. I have two children 12,18. really didn't think it could be so depressing getting so many negatives and I'm a healthy person.  But thanks for making room for us almost 40's and +40 woman on here.
