I've got my 2nd appt with the ob/gyn tomorrow at almost the 12 wk mark.  I worry somewhat because so many of us over 40 have lost their little bean without even knowing it until later.  My symptoms are very mild so its hard to tell.  I haven't gained any weight and don't really show so it makes me wonder even more.  Hopefully everything is going ok.  Wish me luck!

Thanks guys for all the support!  You make me smile.  IM43:  I've been lucky to have had 3 ultrasounds now.  I had to weasel the 1st one; they weren't going to do one until around 11 or 12 weeks.  I had an appt at the fertility clinic for help getting pregnant but turns out, I already was and asked them if I could switch it to an appt with an ultrasound and such.  So they said ok and when the heartbeat was a little slow they said I needed a follow up one in a week or so.  Had that at almost 8 wks and the heartbeat was much improved.  Wouldn't have had one at this last appt but she couldn't find the heartbeat without it, so got to see my bean again.  She gave me pics from each time too.  Otherwise, I suppose I would have just had one at 12 wks and the one at 20 or so.  Seems they are much more willing to do them when you're seeing an RE to get pg than when you do it yourself,  because I asked the fertility clinic when they usually do one and they said about 6 wks; the clinic was 11 or 12 wks.  SSBD!

That is just the best news ever!!  Being over 40, how often will they do an US for you??  I think we are all living vicarously through you now and want to follow along in watching your healthy pregnancy.  Best of luck to you and your little bean!!

Thanks for all the well wishes!  They must have helped because everything came out fine.:)  Couldn't find the heartbeat at first, so she did a sonogram and there it was.  160 bpm.  My dh and 3 yo son got to see the baby on the screen too.  It was moving all over the place.  Pretty cool to watch.  Very happy and feel like I can relax a little again.  Almost out of the 1st trimester.  SSBD all around!
