I'm So Alone -- Am I Depressed?

I moved to a new town almost 6 weeks ago. I have lost touch with all but 1 friend and I have not made a single new friend here. I hate my life. I just wake up, go to a school I hate where I learn things I learned at my old school, come home to my big emoty house and eat and watch tv until my family comes home from work/ school. I play wiht my pet rats, but nothing really makes me happy anymore. I live too far from the library or anything to walk, I can't drive to visit friends in my old town either. It's the middle of the year and I'm so lonely. I eat lunch with this one group of people, but they're not even friends. They just stick together because nobody wants to be alone.

Am I depressed?

Hi Jilly,

Oh sweety...6 weeks if new, fresh and very recent, so it's natural to feel depress. You have been taken out of your comfort zone and put in a brand new, unfamiliar environment that you really didn't want to be in, so what you feel is normal.

Well....this mean a brand new begining and "learning" with time, how to adjust. I would start with a plan....ok, I don't have a choice, but I have to adjust what I can't change. Start making a personal plan...New school....start focusing on your classes  and I promise you that people within time will gravitate to you. I'm sure they are just as curious about you as you are about them.  Friends will come within time and surround yourself with people who will like you for who you are. You will go thru an adjustment period, but that's ok, it' a new life.

At home, focus on what  you can do to make you happy....good luck and I think your just fine...one day at a time...Judy
