Dizzy/lightheaded after standing up

Hi, I'm a 18 year old male.  Over the past few months I have been getting lightheaded/dizzy after standing up. This lasts for 5-10 seconds then returns to normal.    Sometimes I have to hold onto something because I feel like I'm going to fall over or pass out.  The frequency varies.  Some days it doesn't happen, and some days it happens fairly frequently.  

Is this anything to be concerned with?

I have the same problem. I could be sitting down watching TV then decide to go to the kitchen and before I make it there it happens to me too. I actually ended up on the floor the other day because of it. And it happens to everyone in my family. I remember hearing something about it in class one day... something about how the retina in your eyes are focusing on one object and when you move or get up to fast it can cause you to get light headed for a few seconds.. I really don't think its anything to worry about. Although if your still concered about it, you could go to the doctor for reassurance that your fine. Hope this helps! ~God Bless

Alright.  Guess I'll make a doctors appointment.  One more question do any of those potential causes also have a symptom of fatigue?  Since this problem has been occurring I've noticed I've been for fatigued/lethargic.

It could be from not eating or being dehydrated. You could also have low blood pressure, low blood sugar, or anemia. Going to the doctor for blood tests can solve the mystery.

i have the same problem and i dont know why it happens and i am 17 and it has been happening for a few years. like my vision gets a little blurred and have to bend over with my hands on my knees cuz i feel dizzy and like i am going to fall. someone please post a comment that can help both of us.
