Surgery while i have my period

Hi!
Im 17 years and in one month i am going to have a surgery om my arm. The nurse told me that i Will be put to sleep during the surgery. I Will have my period that day, can i have a tampon, or should i have a pad? Should i tell the doctors that im on my period? What IF i bleed a LOT that day? I Dont want to ask my mom or tell the doctors, but do i have to?? Im soo stressad about this!!! Help!! <3

Hi :) you should totally tell your doctor an there's absolutely nothing to be worried, self conscious or embarrassed about! They're doctors they deal with everything? And if you tell them what's going on they'll tell you what you should do to feel comfortable and also to be safe during surgery.
