stomach pains/issues

i was having very bad stomach pains for a while and finally the doctor sent me to a gastrologist(or something like that) because they tested for appendicitis and it wasnt that. she schedualed an endoscopy, and found inflammation in my stomach or in that area so she took a sample to test...she didnt even wait until moday, she called the next day or the day after to tell me i needed to be on antibiotics right away that i had h pylori. anyways. the antibiotics made me extremely sick, but when they were done i felt a little better pain wise. that was in march or april. ive been going to see the doctor and ive been still having a burning/ knawing kind of feeling in my stomach, mostly upper abdomen and a little pain once in a while in the lower. im also having tmj issues so im on 800mg of ibuprofen 3x a day for 4-6 weeks so the doctor said when im done that  she will put me on a 10 day thing to coat my stomach and see if that helps and then in september if it isn't any better then im going to have another endoscopy to find out if the h pylori ended up going away after one treatment or if theres something else wrong. my and the doctors worry is that the ibuprofen is irritating my stomach, but so is my ear so i have to get that out of the way before she can do anything. my close friend had the exact same ear issue and maybe 3/4 of the way through the treatment she was in the hospital because the medicine burned a hole in her stomach...shes worried that it's maybe doing it to me because since i started it, my stomach is getting worse burning wise..and its definatly not heart burn. i do take other meds, so thats something else i have to work on is getting off some...but i need them cuz 2 of them are for my stomach, depression, adhd, bc, and then sleep meds for insomnia...so we tried to think of something but i really dont have any unnessisary pills. my appetite is close to nothing, i eat once or twice a day, a good percentage of the time i have to force a second meal. ive been eating icecream more and drinking alot of milk because it seems to help my stomach...and ive been losing weight...i want to lose some(an old med contributed to alot of weight gain), but ive lost 30 in 2 months about...so i feel like theres something wrong there especially since its been so hot so i havent been excersizing alot from the heat. ive been VERY nautious latly, i was up until 4-4:30am this morning from stress and my stomach hurting..i get comfy in bed and i have to throw up. brushed my teeth this morning before i went to an appt and threw up of course. is there any way to know if the ibuprofen is burning a hole or something? i feel like its important that i go see my doctor but shes just gunna say i have to wait. sorry this is so long, but usually the more info the better. i need some help with this. thanks.

i was on less and nothing but then again 800mg doesn't seem to be doing much...ill talk to my dentist or someone and see if they will atleast consider that, seeing how my stomach is just a bit more important. by the way, thanks..im glad someone helped with some advice :)

If it's only for the anti-inflammatory properties, then ask about reducing the amount you take. 800mg is a lot and you can still get a good result from less potency.

ok, thanks :) im actually on it because the anti-inflammitory in it...i told the dentist/specialist about my stomach so he said be very careful..i think he put me on it because its what will help my ear get better most, but then like you said im not sure if its worth risking my health stomach wise for my ear they have to be able to do something else....its the cartilage or something is swollen inside from grinding my teeth at night even with a night guard but i told my mom what you said and shes calling the doctor right now

I think you should call your doctor and ask about switching to Acetaminophen(Tylenol) instead of using Ibuprofen. You can also ask about other pain medications that you might be able to use instead of either of the over the counter pills. Ibuprofen can easily cause stomach problems in high doses especially if you have used it over a couple weeks long. It's not good to be on high doses of Ibuprofen for long periods of time because it does irritate the stomach and can cause stomach bleeding along with other problems. I do think that it is the cause of the stomach pain and you want to try to switch the medication before it can cause any more problems. 3 years ago I had been on Ibuprofen(Advil) 200mg and I would take 3 pills(600mg) 3 times a day. Within a couple weeks of doing this, I had horrible stomach pains and then switched to using a prescription pain medication which relieved the pain and let my stomach heal. Call your doctor and see what else you can use other than Ibuprofen. I hope it all goes well.
