16 , pregnant , & bleeding . H E L P !

I am 16 years old, i recently just found out i was about a week pregnant. To be specific, here's what's happening. i got my period on may 4th, 2010. went to the ER for lower back pain on the 5th, and that's the day i found out i was pregnant. On the 6th, i had cramping and my flow got heavier. Today is the 7th, and i went to see an obgyn, who said i might be having a miscarriage. how is this possible, if i was pregnant not too long ago, with my period (or whatever you wish to call it), already? Help?

the only thing you can do is wait and see. if it's a miscarriage it will be a bit painful with a heavy flow. there is nothing you can do about it...these things happen. did they put you on bed rest? if not i would suggest staying off your feet and making another appointment for next week to make sure everything is alright and if it was indeed a miscarriage that everything is alright.

The doctor said i had just started the pregnancy, about a week or two in, confirmed by a blood test. I figured it could be a miscarriage. my period was due on the 4th of this month, but didn't come until the 6th. Last month my period was there for only 2 days, my mom thinks this bleeding could be from the previous period that didn't finish, or just a late period. i have always had a heavy flow w. clots, that's nothing new with me, and they have always been irregular. My Ob/gyn that i saw yesterday said i LOOKS like a miscarriage, and she took my levels again, but i have not gotten a result. Any other idea ?

Thanks btw, i didnt think anyone actually responded, it means alot to me .

if you were a week pregnant you wouldn't know. the earliest is two weeks. so you're further along than that.

if you're bleeding like a normal period and pregnant that is not your period, that is mostly likely a miscarriage like your doc said. you should make an appointment to see your ob/gyn within the next week or two to see if 1) the miscarriage was complete or 2) it wasn't your period and just bleeding b/c some women do bleed in early pregnancy.
