32 weeks and possibly losing mucus plug

I'm 32 weeks pregnant tomorrow and for the past week I've had long stringy mucus coming out and I'm trying to figure out if its my mucus plug . I saw my doctor Friday and she wasn't concerned . She is not an ob doctor . I went to the hospital Friday night after a small car accident and told them about it and they swabbed it but I was never told if they tested it or not . I'm really want answers but I'm just not getting them . Can anyone help me ? Also I was wondering if anyone knows if dads can stay after baby is born .. Thanks

Hi!
There is always an increased discharge in later pregnancy. However, yes, any increased discharge is a cause of concern.  If the mucus plug has dislodged, then you will feel spurts of liquid gushing out during movement, while squatting etc. It is important that you should be able to feel the baby move. Do discuss this with your Obs and Gyn doctor and get yourself examined. Fathers can stay during the delivery, and maybe even after that as per hospital policy. Take care!
