I'm 17 pregnant and need advice

I'm 17 I turn 18 in March. My boyfriend is 21 and turns 22 in September. He treats me good and with respect thats what matters  I am 7 weeks pregnant and we are excited and getting prepared to provide for our child. Our parents are fine with it. My parents although mad at me will not press charges I live in Oregon. Do we need to get married for him not to get in trouble or not. Or should I keep him off the birth certificate until I'm 18. I'm sad and do not wish to raise my child alone because my bf gets in trouble. Need advice please help

My parents said they won't press charges which is why I said that. My only question was if we have to get married. Thanks for the help.

I didn't get pregnant until I was 18.. but met my husband when I was 17. And he was older than early 29s . By parents never filed charged. Buutt your situis different...  once DNA is taken.  Months ad up and the courts will see you we're under age at the time.  Even if married he can still go to jail. But the best of luck to the both of you and congratulations!!

Oregon seems to be one of the strictest states in terms of statutory rape.  Age of consent is 18,  and there are no provisions for being "close in age" - unlike some states that don't prosecute if the older partner is 2 years or less older than the younger.

You say "your parents are fine with it",  and go on to say "My parents although mad at me will not press charges".

Your boyfriend is facing a "Class A Misdemeanor" if charged,  because you're 14, 15, 16, or 17 and he's older than 3 years older than you.  Waiting until you're 18 to acknowledge he's the father doesn't absolve him - he can be prosecuted for up to 12 years for this.

It seems unlikely he'll be prosecuted,  unless your parents press charges.
