They're never said to be 100% accurate. The best you will get is 99% accuracy and that's when you're late or due for your period.
okay and just a wonder but when in a pregnancy will a home pregnancy test be 100% accurate?
is white lotion like cervical mucous normal a few days before your period?
awe well thank you so much and you're loads of help!
Nope, not a doctor. Actually I don't do anything in the medical field. I'm a stay at home mother currently. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was super ill and was lucky to get out of bed at times, so I decided I wanted to educate myself. Now I hope to teach other women about their bodies and such as well. There's too much bad information out there and much of it's conflicting.
okay thank you so much for your help! it's much appreciated! you know so much about this stuff! are you a doctor?
At 5 weeks of pregnancy you would have hCG range anywhere from 18-7,000. At 14 weeks of pregnancy it would range anywhere from 9,000-200,000. A level of 1 is a negative for pregnancy, so no. You wouldn't have it while pregnant. Anything under an hCG level of 5 is a negative for pregnancy.
yes the length was 7 days and the flow was heavy the first 2 days then got lighter and lighter and eventually was gone by day 7 but the heaviness went away abruptly and went straight to light, not gradual. and by week 14 or even week 5 (which would be my only two possible days of conception) the level of hcg would most definitely not be 1 though correct? in any case?
Yes, because the hCG hormone is always present while pregnant whether it's viable or not. If you still have doubts, go back in in maybe a week or so and have another one done. If the level has risen then you know you ARE pregnant. If it's the same, you're not. You only have to wait maybe 2 days as hCG doubles every 48 hours or so.
so it's impossible to pregnant (if the only two possible times for conception were end of may and beginning of June) with 1 IU/ml?

Were they normal? Like length and flow?
well my first period after possibly concieving, it was 2-3 days late but it very well could've been because of stress, the following one was a day early, the one after was 2 days late and my last one was again a day early
Bleeding never affects a blood test.
It's also normal to have a day or so variance in your cycle. What have your last few cycles been like. Have they been normal? It does sound like you might be a little paranoid about it. If you felt any nausea and such and it WAS due to pregnancy, the blood test wouldn't have showed your hCG as 1.
but if the only two days that I possibly would've conceived was at the end of May or the begging of July, wouldn't my 'period' not effect the blood test by now, I took the test a few days ago. and yes I started getting nauseous, particularly in the mornings, and my 'periods' started happening earlier and later then the expected date but only by a day or two, and also my uterus feels tight and full, my periods are heavy (for me) the first two days then are get so light the folling 5 days days, could that be vaginal bleeding? I think I may be overly paranoid.

It can be, but since you just had a period that would be an indicator in itself that you weren't pregnant. A female doesn't have a true menstrual cycle while pregnant, otherwise she miscarries.
It's not that it has to do with the level of blood in your body, but rather the timing. A female will ovulate 2 weeks before her period starts. In a typical 28 day cycle, this usually occurs on CD (cycle day 14). After you ovulate, you have a 12-24 hour window of viability. If the egg is fertilized in this time frame, it then travels down into the uterus and implants. This typically takes 7-14 days to happen. Only once it implants can a test be accurately done. So if you have a 6 day period, and you tested 6 days after your period ended that would place you at CD 12. It's doubtful you would have even ovulated yet.
Is there anything that made you suspect pregnancy?
okay thank you a bunch! so it's completely normal to have 1 IU? and the person that took my blood test said since I had my period (just ended) about 6 days before I took the test, that it could be inaccurate, is that true? she said it had something to do with the level of blood in my body.
All women have trace amounts of hCG in our bodies. I believe even males do.
okay thank you, do you have any idea as to why some women have it and others do not?
You're not pregnant. For you to be, the hormone would have to be above 5. A non-pregnant females levels can vary up to 5, with most being 2 and under.
