Does tmj cause weird sensations in head

I must clench my teeth. I do suffer from bad anxiety and depression. I started this way 2 years ago. I do find that I grit my teeth. When I wake up my jaws are tight and they stay that way all day. They are not real bad but I can tell their tight when I open and close my mouth. I have had a weird sensation for over a month that doesn't go away on the side of my head and into my ear. My ear feels clogged. I have had problems with that same side my neck gets stiff and sore and burny and my arm hurts too and so does my upper back. It's all on the same side. Thats hte side my jaw is the tightest. I was gonna have an mri but my docotr won't let me she wants me to get a lousy xray.  Does tmj cause all this stuff? Has anyone had these symtoms or similar ones?

Hi. You should go to your General Dentist (or a dentist specialising in TMD) and get fitted with an occlusal splint. This stops clenching and grinding. Prolonged clenching and grinding can actually cause TMD, cause it displaces the joints. Muscle relaxants. such as Valium, may aslo help the muscle spasms.
You may also have a back problem, because the muscle that leads to your jaw joint originates at the middle of your back. If this muscle is spasming, that would explain the neck and upper back soreness.
I hope this helps and puts you on the road of a pain free existance
Brooke :)

Most of your descriptions are consistent with temporomandibular disorder except weird head sensation. Seeing a tmj specialist is advised.
