Jaw pain after removal of wisdom teeth.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed about a year and a half ago. Ever since then, I have had severe jaw aches and pain in both the left and right side of my jaw. It's constantly aching and hurts even when my mouth is closed and I am not doing anything. I also cannot open my mouth all the way without it hurting. The oral surgeon and dentist reccommended I sleep with a night guard (mouth guard) but that just made the pain worse. As time goes on the pain doesn't get any better, and if anything, it gets worse. Anyone know why it hurts and have any suggestions for me ? Help ?
