Lump on left jaw

by JR777, Dec 26, 2008 11:43AM
About 2 months ago, I started having pain over my left jaw.  Then a month ago, I noted a small hard lump, about the size of a peanut, at this same spot.  Over the last few weeks, it has become painful to chew almost anything.  I am concerned because my father had a lump on his left jaw, and somehow that lead to cancer of the larnz.

I am trying to get into a specialist, but what is your thoughts on what this could be?

Clinical and image studies are essential to formulating a meaningful differential diagnosis. Frequently, a final diagnosis is established by histopathological exam. Seeing an oral surgeon is advised.
