Radicular Cyst

Hi,

After my visit to our local oral and maxillofacial surgen, i discovered there are two cysts - each above the root of 56/65 molars of right and left side.

The doctor recommends Root canal of the molars (56/65) before surgery because it may cause pain later on.

My question is, will removing the cyst without doing root canal damage the teeth, or is it wise to do root canal before surgery? None of the teeth have decays or cavities.

Also, the doc says it will take 7 days for recovery.

Just looking for a second opinion
