1 cm Lesion found in Thyroid

I have 2 hard lymph nodes in my neck that I had an MRI for last week.  The radiology report showed that the lymph nodes were enlarged but not concerning.  They also found a 1 cm lesion in my Thyroid.  I have constant itching, weightloss, night sweats, and constant chest pain.  Sometimes my heart feels like it is flip flopping and sometimes I get very dizzy.  These symptoms are making much more sense to me now but I don't know how concerned I am supposed to be.  I called a local endo and they cannot see me for 6 weeks, the receptionist said nodules are very common and the wait is really not that long.  Is that correct or should I be more worried?

just posted my scan results on health forum, sounds alot like yours.  most of the language on the lab report is not that easy to understand.  Like seriously, patchy....and  focal area of fairly intense radiotracer activity on the scintigraphic evaluation, needs to be said in a manner that us average folk so we can fully understand.  going for biopsy on the "dominant probably hyperfunctioning nodule" on my right lobe on friday.  the journey continues......

So my scan came back with my thyroid being on the borderline or being enlarged. All the nodules are functioning or hyper, especially the right lobe as well as being described as patchy. I assume this is what is called toxic multinodular goiter but that's a self diagnosis. Still waiting on the Dr. appt and hoping surgery or RAI is not needed.

Well I suppose we are on this journey together.  I am TOTALLY with you about 'living in the solution'.  I just wanted to know what road I am going down so I can have something positive to look forward to.  I feel like I am at the mercy of my Dr.'s too, my uncle can only give me advice because he lives in a different state. My GP is actually a PA who at this point seems to just enjoy writing scripts.  I get NO answers, just more tests.  My itching, aching, palpitations...those all "could" be related to my thyroid according to her.  I get more info from these sites. Next week is my nuclear uptake scan (the 8th) and then I will have to wait exactly 1 1/2 weeks to meet the endo.  I hope I will get some answers then!

I want to know why my lymph nodes are hard like peas...even if the MRI shows them not to be necroptic...what does that mean?

I want to know why now there are multiple nodules when the mri only showed one.  Did they grow after the MRI or is the u/s just a better tool??

How could my thyroid levels show normal (according to the lab ranges) but I have these symptoms that are only intensifying. Why would this happen?  Could my levels just have been normal that day??

Do all of the tests really make a difference?  I feel like they all lead down the road of surgery regardless.

The worst part is that we have an answer to our symptoms and its in our neck but we have to deal with our symptoms through all these tests and appointments until we can get the final diagnosis.
I am SOO tired of being itchy, it is literally making my nuts, just throw me in a poison sumac bush and I would feel the same way.  Being summer doesnt help either, makes the sweating worse and everyone can see how I scratch myself red.  LOL, I can only laugh at my antics because there is nothing more I can do but wait.............

i can so relate to your frustration,  I have felt like crap since beginning of april.  Blood work shows hyperthyroid, ultrasound shows three nodules and complex cystic and solid mass, all around 2 cm, uptake scan is scheduled for june 15 (NOT SOON ENOUGH). Doctor put me on a beta blocker to slow down my heart, but all the other symptoms are getting worse. have been having lots of "temple" headaches, which is something new for me.  I literally have to take rests while doing household chores and yardwork and end up soaking wet from the excessive body heat. I live in Canada, so i am at the mercy of the health care system to get the tests and specialist booked.  I am sure if I was a relative of my GP, this process would move faster.  I want to start living in the solution, whatever that will end up being.  So, I am so with you on am NOT HAPPY RIGHT NOW, SO FRUSTRATED.

The nurse called yesterday. Said the report showed multiple nodes and a nuclear uptake scan is requested.  So now that is next. I can't get that for two weeks because I recently ate shrimp. By the time I get all of this done my endo appt will arrive. That part is good but I feel very unguided right now. My itching has only progressed to being solely on my neck, fore arms and hand. Indescribable itch that I am swollen and red. GP says take Benadryl. I also ache all day and night like restless leg but rest doesn't  even help.  I am Not so happy right now.

So my Bloodwork came back normal and within range.  Sono in 2 days.  Depending on of the sono, my GP will call the Endo.  What exactly are they looking for in the sono??

Thanks so much for your reply. My Uncle is a Dr and he said while I am waiting for the appt, to go back to my GP and get a script for thyroid blood work and an ultrasound.  I am hoping my GP can call the Endo and get me an earlier appt too.  I dont have much of a selection, since all the Endo's work in the same office.  The wait is hard because now I know what is causing all my discomfort, especially the itching.  I am very concerned that it could be malignant but I am trying to ignore that possibility right now. If it is malignant my biggest concern is it spreading over the 6 weeks. (BTW I am a 34 yr old female with 2 young children)

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
The nodule needs ultrasound and possible FNA.
Try to find an endocrinologist or ENT who does his/her own ultrsound in the office and they can eval the lymph nodes at the same time.

Find another endo. Or go to an ENT. I left my endo for another because the receptionist was a completely unsympathetic and I had thyroid cancer. With your symptoms 6 weeks is too long to wait.  Take that as a sign. Good luck.
