5yr. infertility and TSH 5.29

Hi,
I have had unexplained infertility for 5+ years (I'm 37).  My TSH has been tested numerous times & I was always told it was normal, though I only got the actual numbers for the last test, which was 5.29.  I was anovulatory last year when we tested & my GYN said I probably have been for years, so we tried Clomid 6mo. with no success.  All other fertility tests come back normal (incl. my husband), and I have had a 25lb weight gain with good diet & exercise, extreme fatigue, dry eyes, depression, and the list goes on.  I don't want to treat something that's not there, but am I crazy for thinking that getting my TSH down *might* solve the infertility problem and help my energy levels?

Would treat in this setting and test thyroid antibodies (if positive, underscores importance of treatment).  It may not help, but with this history getting the TSH around 1.0 is recommended to minimize any thyroid impact on the scenario.

Thank you Dr. Lupo!

My family doctor tested TSH, T3 and T4, but I will ask about thyroid antibodies.  She told me that my TSH last year was 2.69 (and I felt a lot better then), so she has me on thyroid meds to see if it improves my energy levels.  I will pass on your recommendation to get TSH to 1.0, and if I get pregnant that's icing on the cake!
