Can thyroid nodules move? What does this mean?

I have a nodule on the front of my throat, went for an ultrasound about 2 months ago and they found multi nodular goiter.  The large one on my right is over 2 cm, and there were 3 smaller ones on the left, all under one cm.  I am scheduled to go for a Fine Needle aspiration on Tuesday.  On Friday I discovered that the nodule has dropped about 1/2".  It used to be about central and slightly to the right, now it is touching my collarbone.  What could this mean?  Should I be concerned?  Of course it happens on a long weekend so i can't get a hold of my doctor until after the biopsy, but not sure if I should see somebody before then.  Could it have disconnected from the thyroid?  Is it possible it will drop further that they won't be able to do the FNA?  Any comments or suggestions would be great!  Thanks!

Yes, the FNA will be guided by ultrasound.  Thanks  for your response - I will worry less now and just wait until Tuesday to find out what is going on.

Hard to know what this means -- nodules usually don't move around much, but they can.  The FNA will be done with ultrasound guidance (hopefully), so they will have an opportunity to re-evaluate the appearance and compare to prior.
