Cold Non-functioning Thyroid
The other day I posted and remarked I could not understand my doctor's accent, so decided to call back. I have a cold non-functioning thyroide with a large lump and and a small lump on the other side.  I'm going for a biopsy tomorrow, just wondering if this lead to surgery I have never had health issues (I"m 60) and this has really scared me.

The FNA biopsy is usually a very well tolerated procedure.  Most cold nodules are still benign, but do require FNA biopsy to confirm.  It really depends on the results, the size of the nodule and any compressive symptoms the nodule may be causing.  These are all factors taken into consideration when deciding on surgery.
