Cure for Tyroid Problem

Dear doctor,
        I am 22 yrs old.I have put 18kgs of weight in the last 3yrs.Just before a week,My tyroid test report showed that i my FT3 value is 1.28 and doctor suggested me take Eltroxin tablet for 100 days.I am very much worried that i have any problems later?.Pls suggest me how to loss my weight and cure this.

most of us who are hypo will have weight issues but unfortunatly we cant always blame the meds . if on the correct dose (a blood test will confirm this) then maybe another reason is to blame for your weight gain. do you eat sensibly,excercise regularly etc. or not ???  if you gained the weight before being diagnosed as hypo then its up to you to try and loose the weight again. meds wont do this alone! if it did i would be size zero by now!!! haha

The eltoxin is a thyroid replacement for an underactive thyroid -- the best way to test for this is to look at the TSH level -- this would be high in the case of hypothyroidism.  It may help with the weight, but 18kg is more than we usually see in hypothyroidism, so diet and exercise is important as well.
