Hello, I am a 34 year old stay at home mom. I was first diagnosed with thyroid priblems when I was 3 months pregnant. My son will be 8 this july. My gyn kept my levels controlled for a few months but every other time I had bloodwork done my tsh would be high again. To make a very long story short, I saw many docs had many tests and was eventually diagnosed with hashimoto thyroiditis. Back in october of last year, I had tenderness in my neck and found a large lump. I saw a doc had more tests including ultrasound. Since then the lump went away and has come back with a vengeance!! Now my neck is swollen, the pain gets worse everyday, I went from not being able to sleep to ONLY wanting to sleep, hair falling out again, dry skin but not as dry as before, serious vision problems but the worst is my husband almost left me because he said I was acting like a crazy person!! All my doc wants to do is keep sending me for bloodwork! My tsh was 232!! And all other thyroid tests like T3 and T4 were low!! I am very scared this is a malignant tumor!! Has anyone had these same problems?? I also lost almost 20 pounds in less than 2 months!! I am ready to just have it removed!! Please help if u have any info at all!!!
Not likely malignant, but an unusual situation. With the weight loss, would screen for Addison's (adrenal insufficiency) prior to starting thyroid hormone replacement. Severe hypothyroidism like this (TSH 232) can cause significant goiter growth and can be painful.
