Hypothyroidism with fast heart rate

I am been diagnosticated for hypothyroidism because my THS level is high (14,4 mmol/L). But I never have hypothyroidism syntoms, only hiperthyroidism syntoms . I read that is is frequent that the illness start with hyperthyroidism and later pass to hypothyroidism. But now I have fast heart rate (96 pulse /min in rest) and my doctor indicated to me to take Levothyroxine. I am afraid to take the pill. What can I do?

My heart rate is actually lower when my TSH is under 2. It seems contradictory, but there is nothing else to explain the change.
It is in the 90's when my TSH is too high and in the 70's when the TSH is lower.

You are welcome.

I don't think it is common, though. The HR usually slows down when hypo.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks very much. Is it very helpful to know that is comun to have fast heart rate with hypotyroidism and that is posible that the medication can alleviate the symptoms. Thanks again,

Thanks very much for your answer. I had TSH levels around 7 one year ago. Now I have 14,4 mmol/L in one lab and a repetion in other lab with 12 mmol/L : I think the result of high THS is consistent.

Would consider repeating the levels in 4-5 weeks to make sure it is a consistent problem and not a transient one --- particularly if you have opposite symptoms -- better to be certain that you need long-term levothyroxine before starting it...
