I just came from the hospital and it went well. I did have papillary carcinoma
and the doctor took it all out. They did a Frozen section biopsy came back as benign. Although, my doctor told me not to have idiozed salt. I don't know why. I may have to go to radioactive iodine. I wonder which one am I going to have. There are two kinds I believe the uptake and the scan one.
Well my surgery is tomorrow and I'm really nervous and scared. Like I said there going to take out both of the thyroid because of suspicious thyroid. I'm scared and nervous because of death. I don't know why but whenever I heard the word SURGERY it scares me and if I'm gonna come out of the surgery :(
Even a qulified surgeon is doing it.
I wonder why the doctor hasn't post anything at all. All I see is they post once and that's all. I thought they might give some advice or something.
Well the doctor called this afternoon and she stated that it looks like everything is okay, but they are not talking about the air or dry something slides did not quite understand what she was talking about so she was going to contact the lab over that and when i come in we will discuss my options. she just say's do not worry, but you know that is easier said than done.
I know she just said we will discuss everything in her office..that does not make me feel to good.....but I am hoping that medicine will do the trick..I wish you the best and I pray everything will work out for you.
I am happy for your news. Glad nothing serious for you. I wish my Internal Medicine doctor didn't feel me in with those other things in my head, saying that possibility of papillary carcinoma then mumbling about Hyperthyroidism. Although the surgeon says its not Cancer. I guess I should believe the surgeon. Although they are going to do a Frozen Section after surgery. [Big Sigh here].
Thank you. Wish you the best also and will pray for you as well. In the meantime, I looked at my FNA report again under the diagnosis it says: Atypical Thryoid. Whatever that means? I have been doing research ever since last Friday. Oh well.
I certainly understand that one, so many confusing issues....but my doctor said that the nodule is very solid and she told me that if there is any cancer to have that thyroid was the one.Which I understand all that and I am prepared the best that i can right now, but I have enlarged lymph nodes and nodules in my lungs so a little more at risk in my eyes at least. thank you for all your information. i wish you the best
Well the result came back leading to papillary carcinoma. After the surgery they are going to take a Frozen section and know if it is papillary carcinoma or not. My regular doctor said it probably will be papillary carcinoma. The specialist said yesterday its not cancer. I don't know who to believe.
I do not think the sore throat is from FNA as I had that before it just sore with pressure I guess..so yours come back within three days and was not cancer..so I am thinking there is really not a routine to following with the time taken for results.
To: At the End of my Rope....
Sorry, was out for a few days...
Don't let the waiting get to you, it won't help any. Even if it comes back malignant, stay calm. Worrying doesn't help at all.
I'm done with my radioiodine treatment, the surgery is behind me, and now they just need to monitor my TSH levels. It's not so bad; u'll be fine.
Stay calm and keep us posted.
To: RA1, are you getting a total thyroidectamy or just partial. You may not have to get the whole thing removed, unless they find it to be malignant during surgery, which is a posibility.
Best of luck to you both
Question: People are telling me that since I have not heard anything yet it means that it is not cancer due to if it was they would know the next day...The FNA was done late on Monday like around 2pm ET and it is only Thursday some say it should already be back if it is Cancer and some say it takes one week. How long did it take you all and did you feel sore for several days my right side that they did the FNA on is sore to touch but it was that way before so we knows..and did you experience like a sore throat feeling at anytime with your thyroid problem mine comes and goes but yesterday it was real bad....like a sore throat but a heavy feeling against my throat. thanks for all your information it is truly helpful.
Well they are going to remove both of them. I got a FNA results. It says its leading to papillary carcinoma, but the specialist says yesterday it seems no cancer. We went to see my family doctor it may be papillary carcinoma, but after surgery there going to do a Frozen section to see if it is papillary carcinoma or not. So, I will know after Monday when I have the surgery. My right side shows 16 mm nodule, my left 11 mm, but the left side is gone. There still going to take out both.
I took the FNA test on Friday and I got it back on Monday and like I said they told me it was benign, but leading to papillary carcinoma. I didn't have a sore throat and still don't have it. I did have a little sore from the needle, but it went away in few days. As for your throat sore I don't know what to say, you could call and tell your doctor about it and see what your doctor say.
That is good news....I still have not heard from my doctor...this waiting is about to drive me crazy
I came back from the surgeon and yes I do need the surgery, but the surgeon said it is benign small nodule 16 mm. He says that I need the surgery if I don't have the surgery it will lead to cancer. So, I'm relieved for that.
I had an needle biopsy done on Friday and got the results yesterday and been told its benign. The Endocrinologist told me that I need surgery, and refered me to a general surgeon, but I'm looking for a speacialist, so tomorrow I have an appointement with the speacialist. Also, I live in Turkey now. I hope the specialists are good. The general surgeon was going to schedule me with the surgery on Thursday, but I postponed it because I prefer a specialist and see what he says. My left thyroid is 16 mm. My right thyroid cleared up.
I thought if it was not cancer they did not have to take them out, This is all so confusing at times. I had mine done yesterday and i was hoping to hear something today. It sure keeps one on pins and needles with worry.
Glad luck I am everything works out for you.
Do you know if it is true that if the nodule is solid that is a good sign it is cancer. This is what I have been told.
Yes my was sore also, but in few days it was gone.
RA- Did you have a solid nodule
had fna today i am a little sore did you feel like pressure on your neck afterwards and i have been coughing as it feels like something in my throat
I also was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer - papillary carcinoma, and the doctor told me that I need surgery. I did my research on this. My only concern is on MedlinePlus on the internet it states complications and one of them concerned me is with the damage to a nerve that controls the vocal cords.
