What is the cause of your hypothyroidism? If you have Hashimoto's I would definitely NOT recommend kelp! Iodine supplements are not recommended for those with autoimmune thyroid disease. It has been likened to adding fuel to the fire.
When I used to use kelp (before I knew better)it made me feel like my joints were on fire and my body ached (including my eyes) horribly. For whatever reason Progesterone cream causes me to feel the same way.
The only reason to use kelp would be if you have an iodine deficiency that is causing your hypoT and then as far as I've read you can take it with Levoxyl. NEVER stop your meds though and never us "glandulars" that are sold at the health food store. The amount of available thyroid hormone is unknown and it could contain anwhere from 0-500mg of hormone...the idea in treating hypoT is balance. It can only be achieved with replacement hormone at the same dose every day. It can be gradually lessened or increased based on your needs.

Can I take Kelp with levoxyl?
You cannot take kelp instead. If your thyroid is not working then extra iodine will not usually help. You need thyroid hormone replacement (ie levoxyl).
