Metabolism and thyroid hormones

Is our metabolism based entirely on thyroid hormones or are their other factors that play a role? What makes one person have a fast metabolism and others have slow? I have a good metabolism now.  If I exercise regularly, I don't have to worry about what I eat and I never have had an issue with weight.  My thyroid functions have always been normal, not hypo or hyper.  I am having a thyroidectomy on March 12 for papillary carcinoma and I am worried it may change.  Will my metabolism stay the same when I take synthroid?

there are other factors -- many we cannot measure and others yet discovered.  Your metabolism should be the same if the synthroid dose is correct.

I had the same concerns when my thyroid was removed for hashitoxicosis.  Weight gan was my main concern and I am pleased to say I have had no issues at all.  If your thyroid levels are right weight gain should not be an issue.

I was born with a good metabolism and even with replacement I am doing fine.
