Refusing treatment

My son at 14 years old, had surgery to remove a very large Prolactinoma tumor. Since then, he has been under treatment for hormone replacement as test results show his pituitary gland is not active or was destroyed during surgery.
He is now 19 years old and for the past year, will not take any of his prescriptions, etc. other than monthly testerone injections. I need information to give him to help him realize the importance of his therapy and the risks he takes by not taking his medications.
Frustrated and fearful, Mom.

Thyroid and Cortisol (ie hydrocortisone or prednisone) are the life-saving hormones that must be replaced if the pituitary is definitively not functioning.  Testosterone may be the only true hormone deficiency he has -- would talk to the endocrinologist about the deficiencies but if he is not producing TSH (required to tell the thyroid to make hormone) or ACTH (required to tell the adrenals to make steroids) then these MUST be replaced or he could go into a coma and die -- not to be dramatic, but this is the consequence.
