TSH level

Hello Dr. Lupo,
Thank you in advance for your time. I have e-mail you in the past about my difficult time adjusting to / taking synthroid.
Currently, per yours & my doctors recommendation, introducing the medicine slowly (tritation) 50-75 alternate days. Test results from 07.02.08 TSH 11.45
              T4     1.0
              T3     250
Please advise:
I am feeling worse than ever, and realize that it will take time for me to feel somewhat normal. The scale will not budge & my doctor thinks that i should be able to loose weight since my T4 & T3 are within normal range. Is that true?

Your answer puzzles me. In every description that I've ever read it states that the inabiltiy to loose weight or up to 15 pound weight gain is common. What could be some of the reasons for me to have this problem? Thank you for your time

Yes - but with the high TSH there may be a slight slowing in metabolism, but most weight gain (even in hypothyroid patients) is not related to thyroid.
