I'm so sorry you feel so bad. Like the doc said, if you've had a total thyroidectomy, it means you aren't making hormone anymore, how could you go on all those years without it? Unless your thyroid grew back? The meds do have side effects though, that's the problem.I think my pinced nerve pain is made worse by the Tapazole I take for Graves. Whenever my dose is increased, it hurts more or starts hurting again. It doesn't happen to everybody but if you read the side effects of all of these meds, muscle pain and or nerve irritation is one of them. I don't know what the solution is.
If you have no thyroid, you need some medication - -sometimes too much medication can make you feel poorly, so a dose decrease may be worth a try. Without a thyroid, stopping the medication altogether can be life-threatening.
Just wanted to add, I have never had any of the hypo symtoms,,weight gain,,hair loss,or really any fatigue,to speak of,,matter of fact my finger nails and head hair grow pretty fast ,but less now since i been taking meds,,felt fine with high tsh,and no meds,,terriable now with normal tsh and meds,,like i said before i have tried them all, natural, and T4 only.
All my life seems ive been oposite to things,,uppers bring me down,,downer bring me up..
i
I have no thyroid,,my labs at the beginning were TSH of 118 over a year ago,,18 years ago it was 300,still did not take meds then,,felt fine,Doc told me your felt ok then because you were young,,29 then,,now im 46,and my ths had come down on its own with out meds, but he said the readings are different because the lab standards were different back then..Im having worse problems now on lyvoxyl..tiredness is worse, but no muscle pains,,have to take synthroid to get at least some energy,,but put up with pains..tried armour,,puts me through the roof..even by breaking it up..
Hi! it seems according to your labs you should be feeling hyper symptoms. Your free t-4 is at the top of my lab ranges. The fact that you feel hypo symptoms is strange, unless you are feeling the effects of what your labs WERE when you started on meds. What were they then when the doc said to start taking meds? Maybe it will take a few weeks to stabilize. That's a pretty high dose, isn't it? Your labs are more hyper but your symptoms hypo, unless it's side effects of the med. I would think a doctor wouldn't medicate you unless your labs were out of range.I'll be curious to see what Dr. Lupo says about it. Good luck hon!
