Thyroid Cancer & Bioidentical Hormone Therapy
I had a Total Thyroidectomy due to papillary thyroid cancer.  I am now post-menopausal.  It is a good idea to take Bioidentical Hormones?  Also, I avoided iodine for the RAI scan.  Should I avoid iodine all the time?  Thank you for your response.

Hormone therapy (HRT) for menapause is an independent issue from the thyroid cancer -- it is not problem from thyroid standpoint, but sometimes HRT causes changes in levothyroxine (thyroid medication) doses.  You can have iodine now -- we just avoid it around times of I-131 treatment or scanning.
