Thyroid Nodule and Ear Pressure / Fainted

FNA - negative
TSH levels - normal
Platlet count - high

I am having pressure in my ears and lump feeling in throat when swallowing worsens if I don't take advil...

I ate breakfast and hadn't taken advil since 10pm last night. I was walking to my car this morning and got dizzy real fast and fainted and fell onto my car hood... short time...like seconds.

I've tried to call an ENT and an Endo and cannot get appts until August... What the heck is going on?  Are thyroid nodules causing this problem with my ears...  also pain above right collarbone.

I too have had feelings of pressure in my ears for the past 6 months or so. It feels just like altitude changes, but I'm certain I'm at sea level! I really think my growing goiter is pressing on neighboring neck structures and causing the ear symptoms and excruciating headaches. Makes sense to me at least. If feels as if I've swallowed a hard boiled egg and it's sitting in my throat somewhere. I can still breath fine, but I choke on food frequently. I also have hypothyroid symptoms, but test show "normal" results. I'm at a loss.

Good luck to you. Write back to the forum if you find something that helps with the ear pressure. I will too!

Hi I am also new here, first time today.  I also have pressure in my right ear, at times my ears are like when you are in the mountains and need to pop your ears, I  have found if I tilt my head upside down it clears it for a bit but it started about the same time all of my other symptoms began, dry skin, I have lost 20 lbs (I only weighed 108 before I began losing), tremors in my body not just my hands, fast heart rate, low blood pressure, irritability, etc.  I also feel like something is in the back of my throat, I can clear it occasionally but it returns right away.  I do believe this is a symptom of Hyperthyroidism.  A few weeks ago my doctor said I have hyperthyroidism, he immediately set me an appt with an endo.
I went in today for a thyroid scan, tech said I was at 60% but I have no idea what that means, if anyone happens to know I would love to know.  I go back to my regular dr, next week, unfortunately I can't see the specialist till the middle of next month.

Is there a relationship between ear presure, middle ear problems and thyroid nodules/problems?  I have just had a 6cm single dominant cold nodule (left) removed last week (still have about four small ones in the right thryroid) and have had ongoing left ear problems (pressure, soreness, dizziness), including a diagnosis of Meniere's disease by my GP!  I saw an ENT who siad its not Menirere's .....

Went to GP on Monday... sent me for a neck scan... also sending me to an ENT .. doc magically got appt. 4 weeks sooner than what I could get -- I go Wednesday... but neck scan showed nodule in chest.. went for a chest xray today too...i was told it was negative (not sure what negative for what) ... I hope to get a better understanding of everything tomorrow at ENT.   I'm bringing a note pad this time. Ear pressure gets pretty annoying... I take 2 advil and that helps....   she also gave me predisone... I'm guessing for inflammation???

FNA was 5 weeks ago.... ear pressure just started a week ago....
I tried to get into an ENT but couldn't get one until August 4th.

Called GP ---go in this morning - - She said she never received the results of my biopsy... I told her the surgeon said it was normal... so she did not have the results to look at...

She looked in my ears -- didn't see much  (I expected her to tell me I had fluid in there --- took more blood tests...   then sent me for a CT scan of neck...got that done in the afternoon...  they used a dye...

Waiting to hear about that...

Original sonogram: solid mas prsent in anterior aspect of the lower third lobe. This mas is suspicious for a neoplastic process...  1.4x1.8x2.3 cm

Not sure exactly the cause of this -- would repeat thyroid function panel to see if this is a subacute thyroiditis (would show hyperthyroidism) -- the high plt count can sometimes be an indirect measure of inflammation which would support this).  Did the FNA show inflammation?  Nodules do not typically cause fainting spells and if the thyroid labs are normal again then it's unclear.

If the pain/pressure only started after the FNA -- then contact the person who did the FNA to evaluate for any fluid collection or other abnormality.
