hemithyroidectomy

I had a hemithyroidectomy 3 weeks ago, my doctor has not suggested thyroid bloodwork at this time he wants to test it in a few more months...I feel pretty good about the same as before surgery....wondering if the other side of
thyroid kicked in and is working or if it is to soon to tell?  he said if I have symptoms I can come in and get tested earlier....what do you think? Tsh was 4.60 before surgery and still didn't have symptoms...not sleeping that well and weight isn't coming off easily but attributed that to menopause....
thanks

We usually retest TSH about 6-8 weeks after hemithyroidectomy.  If borderline high, then wait another 6 weeks as sometimes in first 2-3 months there is fluctuation before things settle.

Hi I was wondering if you did get an answer from your endo?  My hemithyroidectomy was Dec. 8th, and have not had a bloodwork check on my levels yet...I am feeling back to normal after surgery so I am guessing the other half of my thyroid is taking up  the slack?

Just wanted an update on how its going for you...

I also had a hemithyroidectomy last week and am wondering the same thing. I get my stitches out tomorrow from the surgeon. My endo said he would see me after the surgery but I don't know when. I gues I'll call him tomorrow after my stitches.
