hyperthyroidism(graves disease)

Well I am a 19 year old female, and I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism (graves disease) when I was 15 I went for a yearly check up and the pediatric resident doctor noticed that my eyes bulged out and me if I had hyperthyroidism my grandmother answered no.they did my tests and discovered I did.at first they put me on PTU 50mg 3 tabs 3 times a day,at first I was taking them all the time then my grandma kicked me out the house and I was placed with my uncle when I was staying with him I wasn't taking my meds like I was supposed to so my levels were always high then a couple months after that I was hospitalized for dehydration, and my thyroid was leaking thyroid hormone.then 2 years later I became pregnant with my daughter and when I found I was pregnant I wasn't taking my meds like I was supposed to and one day while I was in school I went to the nurse because I was having a headache and my nurse took my vitals and said my pulse was 125 so she sent me to the er thinking I was going thru a thyroid storm.they released me and I went home        and 2 months after I had my dauhgter I was slacking on taking my meds again and I ended up in the er with a pulse of 142,so they admitted me to the cardiac ICU for 3 days and I went home when they were able to get my pulse under control.feburary of 09 I went to the hospital because of heart palpitations and my pulse was 120 and they put me on a beta blocker for my pulse,my doctor took me off it because it was affecting my breathing, and chaged my meds from PTU to tapizole 10mg.then I started having panic attacks, headaches, frequent bowel movments, sore throats, heart palptations, energy level drops, and frequent fatigue.plus I have an enlarged goiter and its giving me pain now,and I don't know what the problem really is.please help me

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Sounds like you have hyperthyroidism due to Graves.  Tapazole (methimazole) is preferred over PTU, but you may need a higher dose to control what appears to be hyperthyroid symptoms.  Would see an adult endocrinologist for an evaluation.
