hyperthyroid...please help

Hi there,
My doctor put me on cytomel for chronic fatigue/depression.  He started at 25mcg.  I told him that helped and he moved me up to 50mcg.  Last appt I went in, I stated  I didn't feel very energetic at all (I also have chronic back problems and take pain medicine)...he said, "well, let's up this to 75mcg, we can go to 100mcgs before needing to check your thyroid".  So I go to my gyn and he ran all sorts of blood work and my TSH came back at 0.007!!  I'm so worried.  Now I don't trust him...I'm going to an endrocrine dr in 2 weeks.  I only took 25mcg today and figure I should just stop it, but will I have side effects from stopping?  I don't want to go into thyroid storm and I have every symptom of hyper...especially anxiety.

Thank you very much.

Thanks for your answer.  I really appreciate it.  About a year ago, my prolactin was high, but I was taking reglan.  I weaned off reglan and they placed me on dosinex (?) to get the prolactin down.  They did an MRI at the time and saw no tumor, but we are perplexed as to why it has shot up again.  I am weaning down on the cytomel as my pharmacist suggested.  I am just so worried about the 0.007 TSH, although I did not get a free T3 or T4 drawn.  I suppose the endocrinologist will evaluate those levels.  Any risk of going into thyroid storm with my TSH number if I'm weaning off cytomel?  That is my biggest concern.

Thanks again for your response to my question.  I so appreciate an expert opinion.

No  - a low TSH (over-suppressed because of excess cytomel) would not cause a high prolactin (it's the opposite -- high PRL can be seen w/ untreated hypothyroid -- high TSH).

In this case would likely wean off the cytomel, then re-evaluate thyroid function as well as repeat PRL and if confirmed high, you will need MRI of the pituitary to further evaluate.  Good thing you are seeing an endocrinologist.

Also, would this TSH cause my prolactin to be 114?  thanks...
