medication

I had hyperthyroid in july my T4 was 14 and TSH  0.01. Anyway now my thyroid is low. August the endo started me on 25 mg of synthroid and my TSH was 11. Now 4 weeks later my TSH IS 17 so my doctor raised synthroid to 37. Is it normal to raise thyroid medicine this slow. He wants to change my medicine to Levoxyl because my face gets red from synthroid. Im not sure if I want to change I dont want to get worse. Has anyone heard anything about this medicine? I was also thinking about asking for Armour because I have alot allergies. Is it normal for my throat  to ache after taking thyroid medicine? Thanks

I would consider Armour Thyroid.  I think it's more natural for medication to include a full range of thyroid hormones.  (t1, t2, t3, t4)

I would stick with synthroid (or levoxyl) -- the titration of medication seems slow but depending on your age and heart status, is sometimes necessary. Not typical for the thyroid med to cause a throat ache unless the pill is getting stuck in your throat -- take with a lot of water to prevent this.
