i am a 40 year old mail have been fighting graves for the last three years tryed to kill thyroid with radioactive iodine did not work. thinking about having thyroid removed trying to get some feed back on life afterward dr. are not vere helpfull on this matter please give me some imput and posible help on my desishion
Quality of life studies for treatment of hyperthyroidism/Graves with surgery, methimazole or I-131 all show similar outcomes. So if refractory to I-131, then surgery may be best option - the key will be to identify a high-volume thyroid surgeon who has experience w/ Graves.
